The third grade had perfect attendance and great attitudes as we walked through our standardized testing days.  We all enjoyed no homework, longer recesses and of course the wonderful treats!  We also finished C.S. Lewis' "The Last Battle" which is a fantasy with spiritual undertones.  The children asked terrific questions and all did well on both their written test and on the AR test that they were allowed to take after we finished the book.
This week the room is decorated with castles and treasure chests as we begin the "Fairy Tale" unit.  The students will write original tales, act in fractured fairy tales and learn all about the components the fantasy genre. It is great fun!  Some of our writing will be displayed for the Young Author's Celebration on Friday.
The third graders will have a substitute in the next few days as I will become a grandmother for the fourth time.  I will go to Atlanta to welcome my new grandson, Liam into the world.  They are excited for me!
We are all thanking God that Mr.and Mrs. Greidl have accepted the call and will be joining our staff for the 2010-2011.  They will actually be moving here at the end of May.  God is so good to OSLA!
The Third Graders are wanted by God and are growing in His grace everyday!
